Don’t make the mistake of becoming or acting like an expert, instead of focusing your attention on becoming a great marketer. Marketing builds businesses, and drives revenue. Being an expert will not make you a single dime without mastering the art of marketing. A great marketer can make money in any economy. Experts can’t grow businesses because they don’t understand marketing.

Don’t get me wrong, being an expert in a specific field or topic is great. If you want to be an expert all you really have to do is “Say That You Are One”. In this article, I will break down the differences in becoming a great network marketer vs you becoming a broke expert. These concepts will help you understand people, life an know exactly what to do to help others understand that you have what it takes to get them over any obstacles they may be facing. This is important not only from an expert perspective but from a marketing perspective as well.

1. When marketing it’s important to market your products and services focusing on the end user. This means put yourself in their shoes. Avoid logic…because most people you are marketing to are not going to be acting logical, otherwise they would probably already be doing what you are doing, which is taking action. This is why you want to become them, try to see things from their eyes and do your best to enter their world.

2. Understand that most people who see your products or services are in an emotional state. This means you must identify the emotion they are experiencing and cater to them in a way that counteracts that emotion. For example a person who is broke wants to make money, but often they have deeper problems that you must identify. Things like confidence and self doubt. So build their confidence and deliver a message that eliminates self doubt so they can have confidence to do what it is that you are asking of them. If you try to show a person who is depressed how to make money, like 95% of other marketers are doing daily, you are essentially being a dumb expert.

3. When you are a dumb expert your focus is all about logic, reality, whats right or wrong and things that are the furthest degree away from your prospects mind. When you are a smart marketer, its all about where your customer is coming from, which often times is not reality. An example of this is a person who tells you they are broke, but they have cable, an I phone, and a $600 car payment that they pay every month religiously. That person is not broke and that persons perception of being broke is not reality. A smart marketer knows how to adapt and speak their language.

So how do you become a smart marketer?

Make sure your communication is direct, specific, and measurable. A + B = C is an example of creating tasks that are achievable and real even to a person who may not be in a logical state of mind. Help them narrow their thoughts from broad topics to specific small activities. for example, if you were talking to the individual we mentioned above who said they were broke. You could respond to them by saying, if you cut your cable from premium to basic and lowered your cell phone plan you can afford to get the marketing training you need to not FEEL broke.

Notice that I said feel broke…I said this because clearly they are not broke because you specifically showed them how they can afford what you are offering to them.
